Video: Ship models in the space race between SpaceX and Boeing

Boeing and SpaceX must prove their system is ready to begin regular flights to the space station, meeting NASA's needs.

Two NASA trading partners Boeing and SpaceX are going through important milestones with some test flights including manned missions, scheduled to take place at the end of 2018.

Boeing is developing the CST-100 Starliner model . The spacecraft can carry up to 7 people and serves to send astronauts to the international space station. Three Starliner units are being produced, one will transport astronauts next year. This pressure vessel model can be reused 10 times.

SpaceX undertook cargo missions to the International Space Station (ISS) by Dragon spacecraft. The company is planning to use Dragon 2 to bring astronauts into space.

Dragon 2 is the latest version of the SpaceX model. Vehicles designed to carry 7 astronauts.
