Vietnam and Japan will be the bright spots of science and technology in Asia

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama hopes Vietnam and Japan will be the two key countries in science and technology in Asia.

In the morning of June 19, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized a workshop: "Vietnam - Japan Scientific and Technological Cooperation: achievements and prospects". This activity is part of a series of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations.

At the workshop, delegates focused on evaluating the results of joint research cooperation over the past time, and orienting areas of priority cooperation between Vietnam and Japan on science and technology in the coming time.

On the Japanese side, Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, former Japanese Prime Minister and Chairman of the East Asia Community Research Institute, also hoped that in the coming time, Vietnam and Japan will be the two key countries in science and technology in Asia.

Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan said that scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has achieved encouraging steps in recent years."Through Vietnam-Japan programs and projects of scientific and technological cooperation, many issues in the field of mutual concern have been gradually solved, while contributing significantly to improving. Vietnamese science and technology capacities and potentials , 'Mr. Quan said.

According to Minister Nguyen Quan, Vietnam and Japan cooperate in many fields, from social sciences, natural sciences to science and technology, especially high-tech transfer from Japan to Vietnam. ."Japan has supported Vietnam to build a high-tech park in Hoa Lac, a partner in nuclear power, space technology , " Quan said.

Minister Nguyen Quan appreciated Japan 's efforts after the tsunami disaster, but Japan still supported Vietnam in its loans, and Vietnam is also trying to use that capital best. The head of the Ministry of Science and Technology hopes that Japan will spend more ODA capital to support Vietnam's science and technology in the coming time.

Also within the framework of the event, the organizers have exhibited some results and products of research cooperation on science and technology of the two countries, as well as introduced some new technologies.
