On June 8, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) Vietnam Research and Education Network (VinaRen) was successfully connected by the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Intercontinental Asia 2 Network (TEIN2). , witnessed by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang and Mr. Mário Campolargo, senior official of the European Commission.

ASEM ICT SOM conference has just opened in Quang Ninh on June 8.

With the successful connection, VinaRen has been linked with national research and education networks of China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Australia. Becoming a part of TEIN2 - the first large-scale research network with high-speed connectivity in Asia, VinaRen can give Vietnamese scientists and researchers the opportunity to participate participate in world-class research cooperation projects.

According to Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Thang, with the expected application of the TEIN2 project in telemedicine, e-culture, e-education and disaster prevention, this initiative will bring great opportunities for Vietnamese researcher and educator, expanding capacity and capacity for scientific research and international cooperation with colleagues in Europe and Asia.

TEIN2 is an information network of Inter-Asia Asia - Europe 2 formed by an initiative at the ASEM 5 summit held in Hanoi. The network began to be established from the end of 2004 with the main funding of the European Commission aiming to open a global research cooperation portal for Asian and Pacific countries.
