Vietnam has appeared chemical resistant mosquitoes, which are at risk of spreading

The Ministry of Health forecasts that this year, malaria may be complicated, the number of cases increases in both the malaria region and the absence of malaria.

In 2015, malaria fell sharply

Associate Professor-Doctor Tran Thanh Duong, Director of the Central Institute of Malaria-Parasitology-Parasitology, Director of the Project Management Unit for Malaria said that since 1991, malaria has decreased. strong; Many provinces and cities in recent years have not recorded cases of malaria.

In particular, malaria prevention in 2015 has achieved encouraging results. The number of malaria patients and people with malaria parasites dropped sharply compared to the previous year. The total number of malaria patients in the whole country in 2015 decreased by 30.9%, the malaria incidence rate per 1,000 people decreased by 31.2% compared to the previous year.

The number of malignant malaria patients decreased by 56.16%. The number of deaths from malaria drops to 3. In 2015, localities have made efforts to mobilize resources and well implement activities to monitor, diagnose and treat malaria patients. At the same time, the localities actively carried out activities to prevent mosquitoes to spread diseases, communicate malaria prevention as planned and achieve the set targets.

In the 2011-2015 period, the number of malaria patients decreased over the years from 45,588 cases in 2011 to 19,252 cases in 2015, down 57.8%. The number of malaria deaths decreased by 78.6% from 14 cases in 2011 to 3 cases in 2015.

Director Tran Thanh Duong stressed that malaria prevention is still difficult. Malaria circulates mainly in remote areas; moving population from areas without malaria circulating into the circulation area is increasing. People still have a habit of cultivating and cultivating nights, not using curtains and personal protection measures.

At the same time, cross-border exchanges between countries increase, especially with Laos and Cambodia - where there is high circulating malaria and drug-resistant parasites . In addition, the number of exporters working to Africa - where malaria is more prevalent.

In addition, the state budget allocated for malaria control is still low and unstable, while foreign aid sources tend to decrease. In Vietnam, drug-resistant parasites and chemical-resistant mosquitoes have also appeared.

Some areas due to malaria decrease or no malaria for many years, so the prevention of malaria is not as concerned as before; communities are not yet active in disease prevention.

Control the rate of malaria patients below 0.15 / 1,000 people

The Department of Preventive Medicine said that in the period of 2016-2020, the health sector will strive to control the rate of people suffering from malaria of less than 0.15 / 1,000 people; Malaria mortality rate is less than 0.02 cases / 100,000 people.

The health sector will also actively disseminate preventive measures to prevent any province in the period of active disease prevention; 40 provinces in the period of preventing disease return; 15 provinces in the phase of malaria elimination and 8 provinces in the pre-elimination phase of malaria by 2020.

To achieve this goal, the health sector continues to maintain a network of malaria control officers from the central to grassroots levels; expand the model of effective disease prevention for high population groups; strengthen monitoring and prevention of mosquito transmission of malaria and dengue fever.

In addition, localities, ministries and branches continue to mobilize investment from local and local resources. Malaria prevention project continues to mobilize investment and sponsorship of countries, development partners and international organizations. In particular, the whole community must participate actively and actively in preventing malaria activities in the locality.
