Vietnam is about to welcome the most beautiful meteor shower of the year

On the night of 13th and 14th of December, astronomers will have the opportunity to admire the meteor shower, one of the two biggest meteor showers of the year.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Quoc Phuong, Chairman of Hanoi Amateur Astronomical Association said, Geminids meteor shower appeared in the sky from 6-17 / 12 every year. In 2016, the weather was favorable, people could observe meteor shower on the night of December 13 and dawn.

" People in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can observe meteor shower. Meteor shower reaches its maximum, which can reach the maximum frequency of 120 tracks per hour. The best observation time is after in the middle of the night, choose a place with less light and air pollution " , Mr. Phuong informed.

Chairman of the Hanoi Astronomical Society said, this is one of the two biggest meteor showers of the year and meteor shower this year most beautiful. Normally, meteor shower appears about 60-70 streaks per hour but meteor shower in December can reach nearly 120 streaks every hour.

According to Phuong, comets on the journey approaching the Sun, rising temperatures make matter of comets evaporate and under the pressure of the solar wind, creating dust, ice and gas tails.

Small matter consists of dust and ice scattered from comets scattered around its orbit. When the Earth in orbit around the Sun enters the dust (at some time of the year), there will be meteor showers.

Information from the US Aeronautics Agency (NASA), this year, the Earth may be exposed to this comet tail closer than usual and create a large, beautiful meteor shower.
