Morning of August 13, the most beautiful meteor shower of the year

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phuong, Vietnam Astronomical Society, said that from the night of August 12 to the morning of August 13, the biggest meteor shower in the year called meteor shower Perseids (Anh Tien meteor shower) will take place. .

In Vietnam, the best observation time is from 1am to 4am.

According to Mr. Phuong, Anh Tien meteor shower occurs every year, usually starting from July 23 and ending on August 22. People in the Northern Hemisphere countries, including Vietnam, will be witnessing meteor shower Perseids on the night of 12:00 am on August 13.

At the maximum time, you can see 60 meteors per hour, even 100 meteors per hour.

However, unlike the Delta Aquarids meteor shower (also known as Bao Binh meteor shower) that took place on July 29, this meteor shower has a fairly long time.

Picture 1 of Morning of August 13, the most beautiful meteor shower of the year 'Because the constellation Anh Tien is located in the Northern sky, most of the northern hemisphere will see this interesting phenomenon. Some areas have the opportunity to admire this wonderful moment, Japan, East China, and some North Pacific regions. In Vietnam, the number of supernovae has begun to appear and have been observed for about 1 hour, lasting until about 4 am 13/8 '- Mr. Phuong said.

Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son, Chairman of Vietnam Young Astronomical Club also said that the meteor shower night of August 12 and 13 is the biggest meteor shower of the year and is forecasted to be very beautiful with the pieces stars are longer and brighter than stars that fall in other meteor showers.

According to Mr. Son, people can observe this phenomenon easily from 1-4 am on August 13 with the naked eye. When observing, people should choose an open, unobstructed area of trees, without electric lights.

However, Mr. Son also noted, observing meteor depends very much on the weather. People will be very difficult to observe even if they cannot see meteor falling if the weather is bad, cloudy, rainy as much as the past few days in the North.

According to astronomers from now until the end of the year, there will be some other meteor shower which is expected to happen on November 14 and November 18; October 9-October 11; October 18 - October 23, December 10-16.

Meteor shower occurs when the Earth passes through the dust cloud, often the tail remnants of comets. The origin of the meteor shower Perseids is because the Earth moves through the Perseids cloud extending along the Swift-Tuttle comet orbit, this comet has a period of 120-130 years, which will approach the earth on August 14, 1998.

Dust particles in the Perseids cloud are released from the comet Swift-Tuttle, due to the Earth's gravity plunging into the atmosphere at several tens of kilometers per second. Due to the motion with such a large speed, they compress the air in the front to create pressure, plus friction, which ignites at a height of 60-100 km from the ground. Some seeds are large in size, not fully burned, falling to the ground called meteorites.
