The most beautiful meteor shower of the year will take place this weekend

One of the most beautiful meteor showers of the year will take place on the night of the 12th and the morning of August 13 (Saturday and Sunday this week).

Called Perseids, this meteor shower took place in August every year, culminating in the dawn on the 12th and 13th.

According to Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son, Chairman of Vietnam Young Astronomical Association, in 2016, Perseids is a supernova explosion . But in 2017, observers will not see an explosion with so many supernovae being observed.

At the same time, the extreme time when the meteor takes place falls on 21-22 lunar day so the light of the Moon will significantly reduce the ability to observe. Therefore, the meteor density of Perseids this year will be only about 30-40 meteors per hour if in ideal weather conditions, with less pollution.

Still according to expert Dang Vu Tuan Son, the most suitable time to observe Perseids meteor shower is dawn on 12, 13 and 14 August. In the morning, the morning of the 13th was the most ideal.

To observe, just after midnight (around 1 am), viewers need to look at the northeast sky with a viewpoint from the ground from 35 to 50 degrees.

Viewers only need to use the naked eye, without the need for binoculars or any instruments or telescopes to observe.

Perseids - the meteor shower that took place in August every year was the debris left when comet 109P / Swift-Tuttle approached the Sun. It was one of the two largest meteor showers with Geminids taking place at the end of the year.
