Vietnam manufactures equipment to monitor mobile radioactive sources
Monitoring equipment of Hanoi University of Science and Technology will help control and manage radioactive sources, especially mobile phones in the field.
Facing the loss of radioactive sources in many places, potentially threatening the lives of people, the Ministry of Science and Technology has ordered Hanoi University of Science and Technology to preside over the design and manufacture of a radiation source monitoring system. from October 2014.
After two years of implementation, the team carried out the project " Research and development of the system of remote management and monitoring of radioactive sources in real time" , creating products as a system for managing and monitoring the source of launch. Mobile radiation (BKRAD).

With the sensor - communication - warning function, the BKRAD system helps users to remotely monitor the location and status of radioactive sources fastest. Monitoring can be done via the Internet or smartphone.
When the radioactive source is active or moved, BKRAD will send data online to the monitoring center every 30 seconds. If the radioactive source does not work, the BKRAD will automatically switch to energy saving mode and send data every 60 minutes. When the radioactive source is in stock, BKRAD will send data 10 hours / time. Besides, it also helps to find stolen or lost radioactive sources.
Dr. Tran Quang Vinh, chairman of the project, said that BKRAD is integrated with many advanced positioning, communication and sensor technologies to continuously monitor radioactive sources in different environmental conditions. The device has a mechanical structure against dust, water, and strong impact. Rechargeable batteries can be used for 7 days, about 8-10 hours a day.

The Polytechnic-made device is priced at more than 30 million dong, half of the equivalent of a foreign equivalent product.
The study highly appreciated by the Ministry of Science when undergoing many tests has met the requirements.
