Vietnam welcomes the first lunar eclipse of the decade
The two astronomical phenomena that simultaneously occurred at dawn on January 11 were the full moon and the half-moon lunar eclipse. This is the last full moon of the Year of the Pig and the first full moon of the calendar year 2020.
The lunar eclipse can be seen with the naked eye, so choose a clear place, less light.
The ancient Native American tribes referred to this full moon as the Full Wolf Moon because this was the time when they heard the roar of hungry wolves outside their camp. This moon is also called Old Moon (Old Moon) and Moon after Yule (Moon After Yule) .
This time the full moon occurs during the semi-dark lunar eclipse when the Moon passes through a partially darkened part of the Earth's shadow, also known as the semi-dark region. During this type of lunar eclipse, the Moon will darken a bit and turn light red.
This half-moon eclipse can be seen in a large area including Europe, Africa, Asia, Indian Ocean, and Western Australia. Vietnam can observe this whole phenomenon.
In Vietnam, the midnight lunar eclipse begins at 00h07, reaches its peak at 2:10 and ends at 4:12. The lunar eclipse can be seen with the naked eye, so choose a clear place, little light and no air pollution.
