Vietnam-Korea discusses experience in marine management and development
On February 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam General Department of Sea and Islands, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with the Korea Sea Institute organized the 2nd Vietnam - Korea Ocean forum.
The forum attracted more than 40 Vietnamese and Korean experts, state management officials from ministries, southern provinces and research institutions.
The forum focused on exchanging and discussing experiences between Korean and Vietnamese experts on national maritime and ocean issues, common concerns related to strategy and policy. national sea, marine environmental conservation policies, coastal management, marine tourism, territorial delimitation; Green economy development in Vietnam and Korea.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cu, General Director of Vietnam General Department of Sea and Islands, said that the forum is a practical activity for scientists and related managers of the two countries to quickly access to the expected purpose in the process implementing the duties of managing the sea and island of each party.
Experts from the two countries presented specific issues such as the management of marine environment in the semi-enclosed bay at Masan Bay (South Korea) and Ha Long Bay (Vietnam); developing marine resources related to marine energy, marine living resources, oil and gas .; issues to be addressed in the Law on Natural Resources and Environment of the sea and islands in Vietnam.
