Da Nang: Preserving coral reefs and marine ecosystems

Da Nang issued a range of management and conservation of coral reefs and marine ecosystems from Hon Chao to Nam Hai Van and Son Tra Peninsula.

Da Nang City has issued a range of management and conservation areas for coral reefs and ecosystems to strictly manage and conserve areas with high species biodiversity. At the same time, facilitating the development of marine eco-tourism to meet the requirements of the city's socio-economic development towards sustainability.

The scope of management includes the sea area from Hon Chao to Nam Hai Van and Son Tra peninsula with a total area of ​​nearly 4,000 ha. The strict protection zone (core zone) is 82ha wide; of which 36ha in Hon Su, Bai But, Huc Lo, Vung Da and Dong Bai Bac areas are limited to 300m from the shore with an average depth of 12m.

The reasonably exploited area has a total area of ​​3,809.5 hectares from the shallow water near the shore and the deep water in the sea area from Cape Nhoi to Mui Nam O south of Hai Van, from Mui Den in the west of Son Tra peninsula to the region. bank of Man Thai ward in the south of Son Tra peninsula.

At the core and ecological restoration areas, all activities can damage reefs, coral reefs, other vegetation and ecosystems such as explosives, electrical impulses, poisons and other forms. destruction to exploit aquatic resources, industrial-scale aquaculture, mineral exploitation, construction of works, waste water discharge . are prohibited.

However, scientific research, tourism, cultural and commercial activities do not adversely affect resources and habitats with the participation of the resident community, which will be encouraged at the core zone and rehabilitation areas. Ecology next to the area is planned for reasonable exploitation activities.

According to a recent survey of Coral Reef Dive Center Company to prepare for the signing of a $ 4 million scuba diving tour project at Son Tra Peninsula, Mui Nghe sea area has an area of ​​4.5ha. The potential of scuba diving is more than that of Hon Mun area of ​​Nha Trang.

There are 42 colorful coral species that grow very close to the shore, so just a few swimming arms, visitors can see a multitude of fish belonging to the family of thia fish (18 species), fishing fish (15 species) , butterflyfish (9 species), angelfish . This is also the domain of grouper, snapper, just need to throw the sentence, visitors can catch a few of them to drink at noon right on the sea. .

In the area around Hon Sap is very close to Tho Quang beach, sitting on a boat, visitors can also observe coral trees such as giant mushrooms growing in the sea about 9.5ha wide. According to the survey results, while East Hon Su has about 54 species of coral, in the West, the number of coral species is up to 58. In particular, around this area there are 162 species of 77 different fish species born living.
