According to data released on October 16 by Peru's National Maritime Administration (ANA), more than 40% of the country's glaciers have been submerged since 1970 due to climate change.
The images obtained after satellite observations show that the glacier-affected glacier in Peru is the Pastaruri in the Andes Mountains at an altitude of 5.200m.
An estimated 52% of the surface area of the river has melted and disappeared over the past four decades. The melting glaciers here for decades have created nearly 1,000 new lagoons.
Peru has more than 2,600 glaciers flowing through 20 mountain ranges covering an area of about 2,000 km 2 . This South American country is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, stretching from the Amazon forest area to snow-covered peaks.
