What happens when flies land on your food?
Flies carry bacteria from the last place they set their feet and can lay eggs on food if they are female, according to Tasting Table.

Flies do not chew and swallow food like humans. They like liquid food from trash, animal carcasses and thousands of accompanying germs . When these liquid foods are not available, flies will break down the solid structure of food with digestive enzymes available in the country foam, eat and release.
When the flies land on food, it carries dirty or bacteria from the last place to arrive (possibly a pile of dung). If it's a fly, maybe it will lay eggs on food.
According to researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, flies can deliver at least 65 different types of infectious diseases , including cholera, typhoid, salmonella (turning food into toxins) and even anthrax.
However, if you are quick enough to chase flies when they just land on food, the bacteria will not have enough time to spread. Even if a small amount of bacteria has entered food, the human digestive system is still strong enough to destroy them.
