What to do to prevent kidney stones?
Should drink plenty of water and be active, should not eat salty or too much meat, so you will avoid kidney stones.
The mechanism of kidney stone formation is a complex metabolic process. You cannot prevent the disease but may be limited.
Diet
Limit foods containing lots of oxalate.
- Limit oxalate-rich foods like chocolate, tea, almonds . to create oxalate stones.
- Citrate works to prevent stone formation, which is found in lemon, citrus, and tomato. Therefore, eating these fruits contributes to limiting stone formation.
- Do not eat salty, sodium is in salt (NaCl). Salty eating increases calcium in the blood and urine. If 100 mmol NaCl is increased in food, urine excretion increases 25 mg of calcium. Also eating a lot of sodium reduces citrate (a substance that prevents stone formation). Daily salt intake should be less than 2 g.
- Do not eat a lot of meat (protein), especially in gout patients by increasing blood uric acid, causing urat stones. Eating a lot of meat also causes the body to overload purines and increase uric acid excretion. Purines are found in dried fish and dried meat. Eat more meat increases oxalate to create oxalate stones.
Drink a lot of water
Daily amount of drinking water over 2 liters, should not wait for thirst to drink. Research has shown that drinking plenty of water reduces 50% of recurrent kidney stones
No urinary tract infections
Inflammation of the urinary tract is the cause of sludge kidney stones (struvit stones).
Active
Movement will limit urine deposition in the body as a risk factor for stone formation.
