After only one night, the elderly gentleman of the Cristinel Florea cattle realized that his 250-calf sheep flock had changed to a green, green color. Immediately, his farm became a place to gather all curious people in the village.
The incident happened in the village of Arsa in the county of Constanta, Romania.
Ignoring hundreds of conjectures, Mr. Cristinel rushed to invite Dr. Grigore Mertoiu to check. It was a wise decision because after half an hour of examination of the hair sample, the doctor concluded: sheep changed color due to reaction with the limestone solution.
Indeed, old Cristinel admitted that he used this homemade liquid the day before to help herds treat her scabies.
' I used many special medicines before but it was not effective, so I came up with a way to try limestone .'
" Cold weather and the fact that sheep are standing side by side is the reason for the rapid discoloration and spread, " explained Dr. Grigore.
