Sharing with Greatist, Nieca Goldberg, a cardiologist at NYU Langone Medical Center (USA), said climbing stairs uses more muscle when walking and makes energy explode quickly. An increased heart rate requires supplemental oxygen leading to shortness of breath. Basically, when climbing stairs, the body has just performed a lunge movement to resist gravity. Such movement is relatively heavy compared to most of us physically.

In case you are struggling to prepare for an event, such as a marathon, climbing stairs increases the amount of your training. As a result, you become tired. 20 steps are very gentle, but 20 steps are different. It is similar to an aerobic movement with a strong intensity, so even if you have a good body shape, you can easily breathe hard.

To improve shortness of breath when climbing stairs, it is best to practice . You should choose lower strength exercises such as s plit squat, lunge or reverse lunge to mimic the movement of your body on the stairs. Gradually, you will get used to it and reduce your breathing.
