Windows Vista RC1 is free to download
Earlier this September, Microsoft released Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of the new generation operating system for a group of prior reviewers. Today, the company officially allows people to download the trial.
The new version will work on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems in English, German and Japanese languages.
Microsoft only provides limited product activation keys. Representatives of the software company said about 5 million people will have the opportunity to participate in product testing. This number includes 500,000 IT professionals with access from September 1.
Windows Vista RC1 will expire on June 1, 2007, and users must upgrade to the final version or return to Windows XP.
Users can download the operating system here or subscribe to the DVD but must pay the shipping fee.
