Wolf spiders have the ability to release silk from ... legs
Usually spiders spawn through the abdomen. However, a recent study by scientists from the University of Newcastle (UK) showed that spider spiders have the ability to release silk from the legs, thereby helping them to stand up on the glass.
Scientists conducted experiments on three wolf spiders. First, they placed three spiders on the bottom of the glass jar, then slowly raised the glass jar, to make the bottom of the glass jar look like a glass.
Although the scientists made a shake of the glass jar, the wolf spiders still clung to the bottom of the jar. After that, the scientists conducted a vial scintillation that printed traces of spider legs under a microscope. The results revealed a lot of spider silk printed on the bottom of the glass jar.
Previously, in 2006, scientists have raised the possibility that spiders can release silk with their legs. However, some later studies did not prove this speculation.
According to the explanation of the scientists, if you observe carefully, only the legs of the experimental spiders are in contact with the bottom of the glass jar, but there are no other parts. On the other hand, after tracking the spiders' traces on the bottom of the glass jar with high-definition microscopes, the scientists discovered that there were many small filaments contained in the fluff in the spider's legs.
That's why scientists think that the spider spider has released silk with its legs, not its belly.
