Women with long legs are more prone to cancer?
Women with a height of about 1.75m often have a higher risk of cancer than women only about 1.5m tall. This is the result of the latest research conducted by scientists at Oxford University, England.
This study was done on a patient's record of 1 million British women diagnosed with cancer of the breast, intestine, kidney, ovary, uterus and leukemia.
Scientists believe that height can increase the level of stimulation of a factor that accelerates the growth of tumors. Specifically, hormones that activate tumor growth will increase by about 16% for every 2.54 cm in height. This explains why the rate of cancer has increased tremendously in the past few decades as the average height of people has also increased.

In Europe, the average height of adults increases by nearly 1 cm every 10 years and the rate of cancer increases by about 3%.
Scientists believe that increasing height can explain cancer patients up to 15% in the last century. They argue that tall women tend to get puberty sooner and then, the body starts producing large amounts of female sex hormones, easily stimulating tumor growth.
Scientists also point out that taller people have more cells, which means they are more prone to cancer.
Scientist Jane Green, at the Center for Epidemiology, Oxford University, said: " In fact, the link between height and cancer risk seems to be common with many different types of cancer. there may be some general, basic mechanism in the operation of this disease in humans very early ".
" No one can change their height and height also helps people have a lower risk for some other diseases, such as heart disease ," Jane Green added.
However, Sara Hiom, Director of the Medical Information Department - Sara Hiom Cancer Research Center reassured: ' Tall people need not be too worried. Most people are not higher than average and their height will only have a small impact on the risk of cancer. "
In particular, the results of this study only relate to women so it is unclear what the same risks for men. However, research has shown a link between height and cell proliferation in prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
