With a cruising speed of Mach 1.7 (a unit of speed based on the speed of sound) and a capacity of 65-80 passengers, Boom Supersonic's Overture model is expected to become a civil aircraft. fastest in the world.
Blake Scholl, CEO and founder of Boom Supersonic, describes the Overture as a hybrid between Concorde and Boeing 747.
Overture is expected to be able to carry passengers between London and New York in 3.5 hours. Boom Supersonic said it has set a goal of 2024 to start production of this model and be able to use it widely in 2029.
The company's website reads: "Overture is an environmentally sustainable and economical supersonic aircraft. It can fly higher than existing aircraft on the market. The improved configuration includes a number of innovations. engineering on the aerodynamic side, reducing noise and increasing efficiency".
Boom Supersonic also claims passengers won't hear or feel any noise because Overture uses the world's first automatic noise reduction system.
Overture has a smart design, including 4 powerful engines mounted on the wings to increase performance as well as reduce noise and costs for airlines. This aircraft model uses composite materials that are light, durable and more heat resistant than traditional metal.
