Wreck of World War II on the ocean floor

Two wrecks from World War II, sunk more than 70 years ago, were discovered at the bottom of the Atlantic at a distance from each other.

By remote sensing technology and ultrasonic positioning techniques, sea floor experts, about 48km from the coast of North Carolina, from 2013. In August 2014, the survey results were accurate. locate two wrecks U-576 and Bluefields.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Marine Energy Administration are two units that found the wreck after 72 years. The wreck position is about 200m apart. They are all in a distinctive state, in which the U-576 pinnacle remains intact.

"We have discovered a very important battle area, in the stage of the Atlantic War during World War II," Live Science quoted Joe Hoyt, a NOAA scientist, as saying.

The team hopes the finding will open up important information about historical stories that may have been forgotten. The area is now regarded as a resting place for 45 crew members and will be protected under international law.

The German submarine U-576 and the cargo ship Bluefields sank on July 15, 1942, during a clash of the Atlantic battle.

On July 14, 1942, the train headed by the US Marine Guard and Navy ship left Port Virginia, heading towards the island, Florida state. During the journey, they were attacked by the German U-576. A day later, the U-576 used torpedoes and sunk ships, including the Bluefields - a Nicaragua flag ship.

The ship sank after a few minutes, but the crew survived. Meanwhile, the reaction from the US Navy corvette submerged U-576, killing all people on board.
