Yahoo's free software turns the PC into a video
Yahoo has just released the Go for TV service, which allows computers to record TV programs like digital video (DVR). Users can also play DVDs, music, photos and other content through this software.
Yahoo Go for TV only works on Windows computers with at least 20 GB of free memory for program storage, 512 MB RAM and 1 GH processor. Users also need to buy an additional TV card and cable to connect to the TV screen. The data transfer rate of the service reaches 1.5 Mbps.
Go for TV software interacts with many of Yahoo's other audiovisual products such as Launchcast - music and radio subscription services - and Flickr - today's top photo sharing site.
TV cards are now relatively low compared to having to spend hundreds of dollars to buy DVD players and DVRs. As a result, many broadcasters believe that combining TVs and computers is a good way to reach consumers.
Microsoft recently confirmed that Windows XP Media Center software is also sold more than the standard operating system version, while Hewlett-Packard last year also announced the development of a technology that enables high-definition TV viewing (HD). right on the personal computer. Meanwhile, Yahoo last week acquired technology to integrate videos, photos and music into the family digital audio-visual system of Meedio (Houston, USA).
