101-year-old grandfather winning cancer became a miracle of medicine

Estimated to live only a few months because the cancer has spread, Bert Collins (Australia) still miraculously recovered at age 101.

Bert Collins is considered a miracle of medicine. At age 101, he not only lived nearly twice as long as Australians at the same time, but also won spectacularly against cancer.

According to Daily Telegraph, young Bert often goes out without shielding or using sunscreen."I don't know how dangerous the sun is," the man admitted. Last year, he was diagnosed with stage four melanoma . The tumor has spread to the brain, liver, bones and lungs, so the patient's life time is only calculated in months.

Bert's doctor believed the patient should give up because of his age, but still introduced him to Dr. Alex Menzies at the Australian Cancer Institute.

"People often think that old people should not be treated, but new immune therapies are quite effective and we welcome many patients 80-90 years old to intervene," Dr. Menzies said. He also affirmed that Bert's condition is much better than that of people younger than 20, so the treatment is definitely not difficult.

As a result, after four treatments with Keytruda immunotherapy, it disabled the cancer cell's "shield" , the tumor in Bert's body disappeared.

Bert's miraculous recovery surprised Dr. Menzies. While encouraging the elderly to treat him, Dr. Menzies did not know exactly how the patient would respond because he had never met such an elderly cancer patient before. Besides, although immunotherapy works well with melanoma, not 100% of patients will be relieved. Dr. Menzies also wonders if the treatment results are related to human life.

For his part, Bert was extremely happy. Now he is comfortable shaving without touching the tumor on his face.

Revealing the secret of longevity, veterans who fought in the Second World War turned on the most important thing is luck and attitude of life . Bert used to smoke but quit at age 60. He also did not drink and worked hard to dance.

Living through 23 prime ministers, Bert is still lively and independent. Recently, he also started making doll houses to raise funds.

Bert's case will be discussed at the international conference on cancer taking place in Spain this month.
