1,500 GB hard drive appears next month

With the arrival of the world's largest capacity HDD (1.5 terabytes) produced by Seagate (USA), the speed of hard drive storage capacity is increasing by 50% per year.

In 2005, Japanese electronics firm Hitachi launched its first 500 GB product. A year later, the storage capacity of the hard drive was 750 GB thanks to the participation of Seagate product. By 2007, Hitachi was still a pioneer in expanding HDD data storage to 1 terabyte.

This week, Seagate announced it will release the 11th generation Barracuda line, gaining the championship capacity in the market by being equipped with 4 375 GB disks. The Barracuda 7200.11 supports SATA interface and speeds of 7,200 rpm.

In addition to the 1.5 TB model, Barracuda also has 1 TB versions, 750 GB, 640 GB, 500 GB, 320 GB and 160 GB, with cache of 16 MB or 32 MB.

Seagate also introduced two 500 GB drives of the Momentus line of 2.5 inches with a speed of 5,400 rpm and 7,200 rpm for laptops. They are equipped with sensors that protect the device every time a collision occurs.
