The boy's tomb dating from the 2nd century is an important discovery in a recent expedition, according to anthropologists. Boys have skulls stretched under artificial effects. The serious deformation of the skull makes the grave known as an 'alien grave' , according to the Archeology Fund, an organization specializing in excavation in central Russia, Crimea and North Africa.

The custom of distorting skull bones , a type of body adjustment, is quite common in many ancient cultures. Habits are often conducted with infants who have a fairly soft skull. However, conspiracyists still claim that owners of protracted skulls may be a hybrid between humans and aliens.

According to archaeologists, the skull deformed is a typical feature of the Sarmatian people who once lived in the Crimea region today. They hypothesize that the Sarmatians use this way to identify members of a group or people with high social status.

The archaeological team also unearthed a ceramic jar and small seeds buried with the remains, next to the brass bracelet worn on the boy's right hand. A number of burial sites date back to the 1st and 3rd centuries and the grave complex belongs to high-ranking people in the ancient kingdom of Bosporan that dates from the 5th century BC to the 7th century discovered near the tomb of a boy.
