2007: Advertising money poured into video games and virtual forums

Up to 90% of businesses in the US will use part of their marketing budget in 2007 to advertise on new types of media such as video games and virtual forums, the American Advertising Association said.

The poll conducted by the Association has clearly reflected the changes in the advertising sector: the cash flow is far from television, magazines and especially printed newspapers. Of these, printed newspapers are the most crazy because the number of releases is getting worse because readers have more attractive information channels.

Specifically, up to 73% of the interviewed business officials plan to spend one fifth of the marketing budget for the whole year for new types of media. Particularly, more than 12% said they would spend up to 40% on "new tests".

About half of the people who choose to print are the media that needs the most powerful and urgent improvement. Indeed, many newsrooms have increased their online presence to "hook" readers, the most common of which are blogs and videos.

For example, Gannett Co recently announced a plan to reform the local newspaper office to provide 24-hour coverage, using both text and audio and video images. The websites of major newspapers such as The New York Times and The Washington Post also shift to 24-hour coverage and use videos and blogs to "decorate the flowers" for the article.

At the other extreme, the poll showed that the company's marketing officials voted "the most surprising invention of the year" as the rise of YouTube and the popularity of "rushing to play Second Life games." ".
