4 new viruses have been found causing massive bee deaths
After 10 months of research, the University of California, USA (UOC) experts have discovered four strange viruses that cause mass deaths in healthy bees.
The conclusion is drawn from the study of 20 groups of 70,000 different beehives that regularly move maneuver to serve pollination and sucking bile throughout the United States. Research results show that the level of infection varies with each season and each geographical location. The medium research has been published in PLoS ONE issue on June 7, 2011.
Dr. Joe PeRisi, head of the research team, said scientists have studied 27 different viruses suspected of causing bees to die, especially in healthy bees but starting from 2006 again suffered from a strange disease, died of masses, most of the adult bees who left the queen bee made these hives be "severely human crisis". As a result, over 30% of US bees have been reduced, causing losses to beekeepers every year to 90%.

Through research, scientists have found 4 new viruses that have not been detected before. In addition to these four viruses, six species of bacteria, fungi, four types of spiders and a flying parasite called phorid were also found to be lethal in honey colonies outside California. One of the four newly discovered viruses has a type called Lake Sinai , which has a tremendous degree of devastation.
According to the US Department of Agriculture statistics, beekeeping is considered a major occupation of the agricultural sector, because bees are responsible for pollinating more than 130 different crops, with an average annual benefit estimated above. $ 15 billion, providing 1/3 of food for humans. Particularly California state is considered the largest beekeepers in the United States, especially in Central Velley valley each year to raise up to 1.3 million groups, bees thrive from the beginning of February when the season of flowering. For this reason, the development and protection of honey bees plays an important role, helping the agricultural sector develop stably and sustainably.
