50 states in the US sunk in cold weather, 4 people died

On November 19, all 50 states in the US sunk in cold temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Big blizzards hit New York, killing four people.

According to Reuters, the US National Weather Agency (NWS) announced that this cold spell is flooding the United States.

Even the state of Hawaii is trembling with the cold of -1 degrees Celsius. This is the coldest November morning in the US since 1976.

The NWS says it is common for cold weather like this to appear only in the US in late December and early February every year.

Currently many parts of Erie County in western New York, including the city of Buffalo, are covered in 1.5m thick snow. Snow is expected to continue to fall in this area.

In the city of Buffalo, at least four people were killed because of the cold and unexpectedly heavy snowfall. Three people had heart failure while clearing snow and a stroke when trying to push a car stuck in the snow. Another person trapped in a house with a roof collapsed because of heavy snow.

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in 10 counties in the state and deployed the National Guard to help people deal with snow. It is expected that snow will fall about 0.9-1.2m in other areas in western New York.

Authorities also banned driving on some slippery roads. A 225km stretch of highway along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario has been closed.
