60% of users receive e-mails every day
According to British security firm Sophos, nearly two-thirds of users in businesses suffer from phishing messages every day, 22% of which receive an average of 5 e-mails.
The anti-phishing organization (APWG) also recorded 15,244 notices of online fraud in December 2005, while a year earlier there were only 8,829 cases. Also this month, 7,200 phishing sites in 121 fraud groups were discovered by APWG.
The average life of such sites is only about 5.3 days, and the website exists "persistently" for 1 month at the most. More than one third of phishing sites have servers in the US, followed by South Korea and China.
" Organizations and businesses have paid more attention to protecting their own websites, but they cannot avoid the risk of their brand and reputation being exploited and exploited, " said David Jevans, President. APWG, said.
Last week, phishing concerns were once again emphasized when Visa Asia Pacific announced it had discovered and closed 20 sites impersonating its name.
