PlayStation3 will receive digital television

Sony Corp. said it will include a TV receiver that integrates with PlayStation3, allowing users to record TV shows.

With a solution that combines television receivers with personal video recorders, called PlayTV services, Sony focuses on increasing sales of popular gaming consoles along with its handheld game consoles. The sale plan is intended to be correct at the beginning of 2008 starting in the European market.

The game console, along with this TV receiver, is designed by Sony to be compatible with the high definition standard available. In particular, the recorded content can be shared between devices via a wireless connection.

Currently, Sony's gaming products are facing major competitors such as Nintendo's Wii and Xbox 360, invented by Microsoft.

In June 2007, Sony achieved 4.3 million sales, while the Xbox 360 number was 11.6 million and 8 million for the Wii.

The price of PlayStantion3 is not the same in different markets. In Europe, a PlayStation3 is priced at 599 Euro equivalent to 808 USD, while in the US it is only 499 USD.

The company has not yet announced the price of new products with integrated PlayTV service, but this product will be available in all markets of the US, Europe and Asia.

Some analysts at London-based research firm Ovum said PlayTV was the "next logical step" for Sony in the race against rivals like Xbox 360, and Sony's mission to win. in terms of price as well as giving users more games.
