7m long python 'dare' to eat Indonesian man?

The question of an Indonesian man who is afraid of people swallowing raises many questions for the researchers on this animal.

According to BBC, Python reticulatus is the longest snake in the world with a length of more than 10 meters. The longest child is now in captivity in Kansas, USA and reaches 7.6 meters in 2011.

The pythons are about 7 meters long as in the case of Indonesia very strong. They curl around the victim's body and squeeze, killing even adult men by making them choke or cause their heart to stop.

It is very likely that this python has wrapped a lot around the man and squeezed, making the victim unable to resist. The villagers also told them that they heard screams coming from the palm forest the night the bad man disappeared.

But eating prey is another matter. Pythons do not rip off prey but often swallow whole. Their jaws are connected to very flexible ligaments, allowing them to open themselves up to swallow large prey. In the process, the prey's bone is often broken by a great force from the python.

People are not good prey of python

"The factor that makes pythons very difficult to swallow, because the human shoulder bone is not fragile," Mary-Ruth Low, a conservationist and researcher for the Singapore Wildlife Association, said.

However, this python is very large in size and most likely it has overcome the limits of the jaw muscles to swallow the man into the abdomen without too much difficulty.

Pythons are considered the longest snake in the world. They have attacked people in the past but experts have so far been skeptical about the ability to digest an adult man.

"This python is primarily eaten by mammals , " Low said. Sometimes, they can eat reptiles, including crocodiles. According to Mrs. Low, python often eat rats and other small animals. But once they reach a certain size, they almost ignore the mice because the calorie intake is not worth it. Basically, they can choose big prey like pigs or even cows.

In some cases, the python has calculated the size of the prey. In 2005, a Burmese python tried to swallow the whole crocodile. It broke the abdomen while eating and both animals died. Their corpses were discovered by the park rangers in Florida soon after.

If no suitable prey is found, the python can survive long periods of relying on small animals until the target is found large enough. However, humans are not popular python food.

The python can not intentionally attack the Indonesian man.

In 2002, a 10-year-old boy in South Africa was swallowed by pythons, but very rarely the pythons swallowed up an adult man as was the case in Indonesia.

The first victim was eaten by pythons?

According to the BBC, this may be the first case of a giant brocade python intended to eat adults.

Anthropologist Thomas Headland, who has spent decades studying Agta people - a group of hunters in the Philippines, says he has recorded several cases of python attacks.

Mr Headland said many python cases were killed, but there was also a time when the Agta were small and python swallowed. Today, pythons attack people very rarely and mostly occur because animals seek to defend themselves.

According to expert on snake Nia Kurniawan in Indonesia's Brawijaya University, pythons are very sensitive to vibrations, noise and heat from the lamp, so they often avoid places inhabited.

But they still need to hunt. Perhaps the Indonesian man was unlucky when his field was once a forest and he entered the bush, becoming a victim instead of another prey.
