Python 4.2 m long lurking in fruit orchards in China
A large python was discovered while hiding in the orchard in the southwestern Panzhihua city of Sichuan province, China.
People.cn reported that the python frightened the local residents and asked for help from the police.Upon receiving the call, six armed firefighters were sent to the scene. After nearly two hours, the python weighed 50 kg and was 4.2 meters long.
According to the orchard owner, the python had previously appeared and swallowed one of his chickens. This person thought that the python only occasionally went into the garden and did not think about calling the police. However, on the afternoon of July 5, he was terrified when he saw the python in the orchard again and immediately informed the police.
According to experts, the captured animal belongs to the landmark python (Python molurus bivittatus), which is one of the six largest pythons in the world. This python has no venom but is very aggressive.
This is also a species that is listed as endangered and protected at the national level. The python is released naturally by the local forestry agency.
Police recommend that pythons may appear more often in the summer. Most of them have no venom. However, people need to call the police or firefighters if they encounter pythons instead of catching them themselves.
