Currently, every day the world is generating about 2.5 quintillion bytes of data, which is still growing.

It is estimated that about 90% of the world's data is now generated over the past two years, an average of 2.5 quintillion bytes (trillions of bytes) per day. The more numbers of connections, the more data is generated, especially in the coming years.

According to the 5th consecutive year statistics of Domo Company (USA) on online data and behavior worldwide in an infographic "Data not sleeping 5.0", the proportion of the world population usage has increased by 7.5% compared to 2016, currently estimated at 3.7 billion people. In the United States alone, an average of 2,657,700 gigabytes of data are generated per minute.

Recently, the media and Internet services have achieved strong development steps. Amazon, YouTube and Netflix are three of the most bandwidth-intensive companies. Sales on Amazon reached a record of 258,751 USD per minute; YouTube reached 4.14 million viewers per minute; while Netflix this year saw a 20% drop in their program views every minute compared to 2016.

The 2016 report also showed that over 3.5 million text messages were sent every minute. In 2017, this number was 15.2 million messages, an increase of 334%. Besides, an average of 3.6 million searches per minute, Instagram has 46,740 people posting images, and Spotify has 13 new songs.
