The ancient shoe was discovered by archaeologists in a moat at the Roman fortress of Vindolanda near Hexham, Northumberland, England, Telegraph reported on September 21. The small ledges run along the outer shell of the shoe and the curvature of the curve to close the toes looks very much like modern soccer shoes.

"We couldn't believe our eyes when we noticed the shoe is very similar to Adidas' Predator soccer shoes . The shoe is the same size for kids from 8 to 10 years old. This is a quality shoe. well, it may belong to a Roman child born into a wealthy family, "said Sonya Galloway, fortress management spokesman Vindolanda.

The specimen was among 420 shoes found under the moat that used to be a garbage dump under Roman times. Archaeologists determine that the shoe was produced around 212 and made from whole leather.
