'Action for international climate change'

Today, this program will link the world to participate in combating climate change - a serious problem that Vietnam and other countries in the region are suffering from.

According to a report on climate change by the International Fund for Nature Protection (WWF), the heavy impact of climate change along with the lack of timely actions caused heavy losses for area.

Towards the United Nations Climate Change conference taking place in Copenhagen (Denmark) in December, WWF Vietnam is trying to get people to participate in the campaign on climate change and enhance the export. show of Vietnam on the world forum.

Rising sea levels are a problem that threatens marine communities and climate change is also seriously threatening Vietnam's ecosystems. Every one meter rise of sea level can seriously destroy up to 9 ecological diversity points of the Mekong Delta alone.

Between 1951 and 2000, Vietnam's average temperature increased by 0.7 degrees C. This significant change exacerbated the pressure on the region. The loss of habitat, natural resources, weak infrastructure and deeper is the degradation of ecosystems, threatening people's lives and economic and social development of the region. .

WWF offers three main strategies for adapting to climate change, to minimize the impacts on the Mekong sub-region (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and part of China). Accordingly, focusing on protection of regional ecosystems, reducing the load of non-climate burdens such as unsustainable infrastructure along with excessive exploitation of natural resources and application of preferable copies climate change response for the whole region.

According to Trine Glue Doan, a climate change consultant with WWF Vietnam, the Mekong region is one of the most heavily affected areas in the world from climate change. Therefore, understanding the dangers from these threats as well as the importance of sustainable ecosystems can enhance the community's ability to fight climate change. This is a very important step in the process of adapting to climate change.
