Add an explanation of the destruction of dinosaurs

In the morning of September 6, the scientific journal Nature published the latest study to show that it was possible that the sudden collision between the two giant rocks in the asteroid belt 160 million years ago was the cause of death. death of dinosaurs (about 65 million years ago).

How to collide?

Since knowing the existence of dinosaurs, scientists always concern with the question of why they completely disappeared from the earth? Since then there have been studies, many theories have been made but no one seems to be really satisfied. According to the latest hypothesis of scientists from the Western Research Institute - Southern State of Colorado (USA) and Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) has just published in Nature , the collision between two blocks of stone with dozens of diameters km created many fragments. Perhaps one of them has fallen to Earth 65 million years ago, creating sudden climate change and causing dinosaurs to become extinct.

This event is explained quite clearly when a piece of a comet (or meteorite) fell into a crash hole called Chicxulub - 180km in diameter - in Mexico. Other pieces that appear from this collision can fall to the moon, Venus and Mars.

To conduct the study, scientists simulated a computer crash by exploring the asteroid number 298 named Baptistina. This asteroid shares the same trajectory as a group of smaller rocks. According to the team, giant asteroids with a diameter of 170 km have many remarkable factors.

About 160 million years ago, this asteroid was hit by a 60km-diameter stone block, dividing the planet into about 300 pieces about 10km in diameter.

Scientists found that among the sediment samples found at the crater, there were traces of carbon particles, the only mineral found in some types of meteorites. According to them, the collision also created an asteroid and up to 90% of the possibility it belongs to the Baptistina asteroid family. And a lot of reasons to conclude that another 4-kilometer asteroid of this family 108 million years ago crashed into the moon, creating an 85km diameter collision called Tycho.

Consequences of destruction

After the collision, one of the falling debris created huge dust clouds that obscured the sun, causing the ground to sink in the chilly winter, which caused the animals to become extinct, including dinosaurs. .

Based on the findings of the research process, the group of scientists judged that even though the asteroids collided, formed and spilled over 100 million years ago, they have not finished yet. . About 20% of asteroids are currently very close to the earth and belong to the Baptistina family.

Scientist Philippe Claeys in Belgium, who did not participate in the study but sent an e-mail, wrote: 'The results of the study by US and Czech scientists are the clearest evidence for the assertion that the Solar System is a cruel environment in which changes and collisions between planets can have disastrous consequences for the evolution of species on the earth.
