Added a new vulnerability in Microsoft Word
Microsoft's January 25 warning said an unpublished vulnerability and bug fix in Microsoft Word are being exploited and exploited by hackers in cyber attacks.
This is the fourth "zero-day" vulnerability in Microsoft applications to appear in the past two months. All four of these vulnerabilities still have no patches, although Microsoft has reported that they are being exploited by hackers.
" At this point, attacks taking advantage of four new vulnerabilities do not have serious consequences, " the Microsoft representative said. He also said Microsoft is investigating a report on the latest vulnerability, and may issue a fix if necessary.
According to Symantec, the latest vulnerability in Microsoft Word could allow an attacker to hijack a system running Word 200, and suspend systems running Word 2003 and Word XP. " The attacker exploits this vulnerability by tricking the victim to open a malicious Word file ," said Symantec.
Symantec recommends that users upgrade their anti-virus software on the system, and need to be cautious when opening unidentified Word files.
