Rapid spread of E. coli ST131 leads to more and more diagnosed cases of blood and urinary tract infections that are difficult to cure. Every year, over 150 million people worldwide are infected with urinary tract diseases. What is special is that five years ago the E.coli ST131 strain did not pose such a risk.

Now scientists do not know much about this strain, just know that it comes from a single ancestor that appeared 10 years ago. They are trying to apply the most modern technology in DNA decoding to compare the genetic differences of the E.coli strain ST131 collected in 6 different regions of the world in the hope of quickly detecting the causative agent. Help stop the spread.

Unfortunately, there are very few new antimicrobials, including on drug shelves as well as in the research process.
