According to DHS , two students named Tram Vo and Khoi Van earned an amount of up to $ 1.2 million by selling Apple software, games and gift cards on eBay with stolen credit cards. . DHS said that users were tricked by two names when they used stolen information to create eBay accounts and PayPal with different usernames and started selling products, for example. like antivirus software or iTunes gift card.

A victim of the online fraud line, Ms. Susan Higginbotham, said: ' Banks have sent me eight offers for account registration. In addition, I have to pay bills from eBay due to fake names of my transactions . '

When legitimate buyers pay for these products with a PayPal card , they will order directly from the manufacturer with the stolen credit account number. When buyers find out, fraudulent objects have promptly transferred their money from PayPal to another bank account. After that, the stolen money was transferred to international accounts in Canada or other European countries.

To gather more information for the investigation, DHS examined the homes of the two students at Winona State University in Minnesota and seized some documents and computer equipment.
