America welcomes the first baby born from a mother who has a uterine transplant
America has just welcomed the first baby born by the mother.
The baby was born from a mother who had an uterine transplant.
According to an information posted on the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center website in Dallas, Texas, USA, on December 1, the baby was born a healthy boy and this is " a breakthrough in medical research and a milestone of important clinical trials " in efforts to support women to fulfill their positions.
With the support of medical experts from Sweden, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center performed 4 uterine transplants in September 2016.
And the newly born boy is the only successful case of those transplants.
Sweden is the first country in the world to conduct a test of uterine transplantation for women who are difficult to get pregnant.
Up to now, in this Nordic country there have been 5 healthy babies born to a mother who has had an uterine transplant. The first successful birth shift was recorded in September 2014.
