On November 5, the workshop on developing a cross-border cooperation plan for emergency flood control between An Giang and Kandal (Cambodia) took place in An Giang province.

Cooperation in constructing anti-erosion embankments along the border areas of Kandal and An Giang provinces and building a legal mechanism for humanitarian assistance in emergency situations due to flooding in the Mekong River.

The two sides agreed to share knowledge and experience of search and rescue. During the flood season (from July to October every year), the two provinces cooperate to rescue and rescue people suffering from floods in the Mekong River.

In an emergency, the local government, where people suffer from temporary flooding, allows transport and provision of emergency humanitarian aid to these victims.

Local governments of the two provinces will discuss and discuss with each other to find appropriate methods to prevent and mitigate river bank erosion, especially to minimize the impact on the lives of people living along the border regularly. landslide.

The two provinces cooperate to implement activities related to health care and disease prevention, especially cholera and diarrhea.

The Department of Health, hospitals and health centers along the two provinces cooperate to provide vaccines for people living along the border; organizing joint rehearsal for flood and storm search and rescue.

The two sides also requested the Asian Disaster Prevention Center (ADPC) to submit to the Mekong River Commission for general rehearsal funding, to build common forms to exchange forecasts of floods, storms and warnings. for two parties.
