The strange case of a 37-year-old woman who could rotate her arms 180 degrees without any effort was described by a group of doctors in an article for the British Medical Journal Case Reports. The unusual 'trick' becomes possible because rare Gorham-Stout disease that a woman has - bone disease disappears.

This woman's disease was discovered by chance after she went to see the doctor because of the pain in her left shoulder. The doctors noticed that her shoulder was 'soft' abnormally and that an X-ray revealed that the end of the arm bone connecting her arm to her shoulder had disappeared. Her arm bones are also 'disappearing'. Instead of treating with surgery, the woman selected shoulder strengthening exercises and successfully prevented the disease from progressing.

Gorham-Stout disease is extremely rare. The cause of this disease is still a mystery, but people who have it often have abnormal blood vessels that can make bones disappear.
