Another exploit error in PowerPoint?
Security experts have discovered an exploit in Microsoft PowerPoint's unpatched vulnerability that could allow an attacker to take complete control and run binary code on the system.
It is believed that the vulnerability is newly discovered, although it may be related to Microsoft's August patches. The vulnerability affects all Windows operating systems.
A Finnish security expert said the exploit was discovered last weekend. He also confirmed that a file called TROJ_SMALL.CMZ helped "open" the hole out.
As recommended by security experts, PowerPoint users should be careful when opening unidentified files, and should install all patches from Microsoft.
Currently, Microsoft has not confirmed the presence of the vulnerability. The company often announces new security threats periodically of the monthly security bulletin.
