US scientists have discovered a hallucinogenic chemical in mushrooms that can help treat depression and anxiety.

A special study showed that the chemical composition in this fungus - psilocybin - can prolong positive changes in personality and behavior.

In their study, scientists at Johns Hopkins University (USA) gave volunteers to use psilocybin tablets extracted from mushrooms. These people said it made their lives better. Specifically, 2 months after taking the drug, 79% of volunteers said they felt greatly or moderately happy or satisfied with life.
