There is a cure for fungi

The fungus infects ants, turning them into zombies, which can be destroyed by other parasites.

>>>Mushrooms turn ants into zombies

According to a report on PLoS ONE, Ophiocordyceps fungus after getting into the brain ants will control the host until the body is destroyed. Ants infected with this fungus are often punctured by the mushroom from the inside out, causing an instant death.

After the observation period, scientists learned that ants tried to protect members in the flock by grooming each other. New research by Pennsylvania State University (USA) has found the essence of 'zombies' .

Team leader David Hughes explained that parasitic fungi act by "castrating" Ophiocordyceps, making it impossible to multiply spores to further harm other ants. That is why it is very dangerous, but the 'zombie' fungus is limited in its ability to spread and the ant community is preserved.

The results of the study are based on data from the Camponotus rufipes ants in the Brazilian rainforest and the carpenter ants in Thailand.
