Argentina witnessed the largest ice erosion ever seen

On the morning of March 4, the collapse of the ice dam on the Perit Moreno glacier in Argentina created a majestic scene never seen since July 2008.

Several tons of ice broke off from a 60-meter dam and fell into the glacier in the national park area in the province of Santa Cruz, southern Argentina.

From Wednesday last week, the ice dam began to show signs of ice erosion. The park management board said there were about 5,000 visitors who came to the park from Saturday waiting to see the iceberg. But due to the night showers, the iceslide happened at 4 am, causing a booming sound several kilometers away and only a group of park guards guarded by that spectacular spectacle.

Perit Moreno, one of Argentina's top attractions, is one of the largest glaciers in the Patagonian region.

The glacier has a displacement of about 1.7 meters / day in the middle of the river, periodically creating an ice dam and this dam often collapses due to the pressure of the moving glacier.
