Artificial rain reduces dust on the street

Students of the University of Natural Resources and Environment have an idea to create artificial rain on the streets, to limit dust causing serious pollution.

The idea of Luu Van Tuan comes from the fact that air pollution caused by dust can cause cancer and genetic changes, and many other diseases in humans. Dust particles are easy to penetrate into the body through the respiratory tract and are able to survive long. These dust particles are always in suspended state and will reduce activity when it rains.

'But it doesn't always rain, so it is necessary to' create rain 'to reduce the activity of dust in the air as well as the harm it can cause,' said Luu Van Tuan.

Tuan said, it is possible to create a rain source of artificial mist (fog) installed on each light pole, mainly where there are heavy dust pollution monitoring data such as intersections, residential areas middle, industrial clusters.

The plumbing system is a strong and durable system, mounted on the outside of the electric pole with screws, and the water pipe path from one column to another will be placed at the edge of the road, the outside is a concrete cover. The system will use centrifugal pumps to make the water pressure able to pump up.

This system will be controlled from the city center and installed by default. Every 40 minutes it will spray artificial rain once. The system only works on days without rain in the period from 7h to 19h daily.

"With this measure, when processing from above, it will more effectively increase the previous dust reduction measures such as environmental sanitation vehicles spraying on the streets - these measures can only reduce lower dust. ground without reducing aerial dust ".

Tuan also acknowledged that the idea needed a large investment and a lot of effort, but the benefits brought people a cool and cool atmosphere.

According to the judging panel of the Green Economy Idea Contest, this is the first time there has been a measure to reduce the amount of dust in the air in big cities - a problem that is right to managers and scientists. learn to headache.
