Atlantis disappeared on Google Earth

Google Earth has just been updated to remove traces of the underwater city of Atlantis.

This city trace on Google Earth was discovered in 2009 when internet users discovered a seabed network that looked very much like a legend city. Google quickly explained that the trace was due to overlapping data warehouses, and the city of Atlantis was never found. However, that map still exists today.

For centuries, many people imagine Atlantis is a beautiful city, rich in cultural traditions, rich in wealth, but suddenly swallowed by the ocean.

The location of this city - or at least the origin of the fantasy - is still a mystery. Some argue that it is under the waters of Cornwall in England, while some believe it is under the Black Sea.

This week, Google announced the third anniversary of Google Earth, and updated this tool to provide users with a "clearer view" of the landscape on the ground.

The latest update of Google Earth provides more accurate images of many important ocean areas, using data collected by research vessels over the past 3 years.

The update is the product of a partnership between Google and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the US National Oceanic and Meteorological Agency (NOAA), the US Navy and several other agencies.
