Australia catches strange radio signal from world 8 billion years ago

The radio burst FRB 2022610A flashed from what scientists described as "unbelievable" locations .

According to Sci-News, the "hometown" of the FRB 2022610A radio signal is a cluster of 7 galaxies that existed in the space when the universe was only 5 billion years old.

It was an unprecedented event because previous radio bursts had only been found from isolated galaxies.

Besides, such an ancient radio burst is a "pure gold" discovery. It has traveled billions of light years to Earth to reveal a violent event that happened more than 8 billion years ago.

The signal was first detected by Australia's ASKAP radio telescope network , located in the Western Australian desert. The European Southern Observatory's (ESO) Very Large Telescope later confirmed that it must have come from a very distant location.

Most amazingly, it was four times more energetic than previously detected nearby radio bursts.

According to Dr. Alexa Gordon from Northwestern University (USA) - the main author of the research team, they mobilized the Hubble space telescope to "look" into this deep space.

Seven ancient galaxies are revealed in stunning detail. Not to mention, Hubble's observations provide a breathtaking look at the types of environments that could have led to these mysterious events.

Although it does not answer the ultimate question of where the radio flashes come from, the discovery has provided important clues.

The origin of this fast, powerful, explosive signal remains a matter of debate. Leading theories include black hole mergers, neutron star mergers, or the implosion of a powerful neutron star.

Additionally, many people also suspect that some radio bursts may come from an extraterrestrial civilization.
