Australia discovered 100 new marine species

Australian researchers have discovered 100 new species of marine life scattered in the submerged islands of western Australia.

In a study conducted over a 10-year period, scientists at the Institute of Global Life and Marine Life Research found some marine creatures that look like shrimp but are longer than their bodies and live in their mouths. big fish. Previously, researchers had collected 300 species of marine corals and discovered dozens of species of crustaceans, many of which have two sizes of three times the size of its body.

Dr. Julian Caley, of the Australian Marine Science Institute, said that among the total number of researchers discovered, up to 60% were first known to humans, notably those of crustaceans soft and legs .

According to Dr. Caley, currently marine species in Australia are facing many risks of extinction due to environmental pollution, ocean "acidification" and warming of the Earth. Therefore, the discovery of new species will help researchers capture threats to their lives in order to find appropriate protection and at the same time grasp the effects of abnormal climate change through changes in quantity and shape of these marine species.
